A High Back Windsor Armchair
An impressive mid-19th century high back Windsor armchair, with decoratively pierced burr yew centre splat, standing on intricately turned legs, joined by a crinoline stretcher.
This is the largest Worksop chair I have seen in over 40 years. The colour and weight of the yew wood is quite outstanding, and stands at 48 inches high, a good 6 inches more than is the norm. I would suggest this was made as a special order for a discerning customer.
Worksop, probably from the Allsop family, circa 1835-40.
Height 48 inches.
